AFTU (Association de Financement des Professionnels du Transport Urbain):
General Description:
Long
distance buses with a varying number of seats due to some designs purposefully
giving away seating space for standing space.
Price:
100-400 (for
local travel)
Notes:
There are
many different models of AFTU busses, but all the designs are created under one
of two main designs either the Tata (pictured on the left) or the King Long(pictured on the right).
One should note that the AFTU busses are
more commonly called “Tatas” in Dakar. The AFTU buses were originally
designed to replace the Car Rapides in around 2006/2007, but as of today (June,
2016) the Car Rapides are still just as present as ever in Dakar.
